Olympic gymnast Louis Smith has kick-started the build up to the World Cup in the city launching the new series of ‘street parties’ at The Solstice.
The matches will be shown on a huge LED screen in the XL Arena (located just behind The Solstice) on Brook Street starting with England’s match against Tunisia on Monday June 18.
The Peterborough gymnast and TV star took time out from training to join sponsors Motorpoint and the team from The Solstice in gearing up for the popular World Cup Street Parties which will screen every England game to a packed crowd of footy fans.
Like most of us Louis admitted to ESP he’s hopeful but nervous for the England squad.
“Obviously I’d love to see England go as far as they can but who knows how far that will be – there’s been a lot of changes in the squad. I don’t know! I would like to wish England the best of luck. I’m just rooting for England and if they do get knocked out… I’ll just have to pick a team.”
The first event sees England in their opening group game against Tunisia. There’ll be pre-match entertainment and outdoor bars in the XL Arena serving ice cold drinks on tap plus various outdoor eateries, toilets and a face painter.
Local band High Rollers will be performing live from 5.45pm plus host Kev Lawrence from Heart FM will be entertaining the crowd both before and after the game.
