It’s time to convince the boss you need a team day out!

With just weeks to go until the 19th Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival takes place at Peterborough Rowing Lake on Saturday June 10, the excitement and inter-company rivalry is building as more teams book their place on the start line.

A team from Peterborough Greyhounds is one of the latest to sign up and they’re looking forward to competing against a mix of new and returning teams from across the region. So far these include Rapidrop Global and Amaray (silver crews), AB Agri, Marshfields School, Masteroast Coffee Co. Ltd, PS Financials (two teams), Ballast Phoenix, Barhale, Midco Care, NetSupport Ltd, Environmental GB, Froglife, Rawlinson’s, Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and of course us here at ESP Magazine.

For some companies it’s the thrill of the competition that draws them to the event, for others it’s more about a fun day out for staff and the opportunity to raise vital funds for Festival charity, Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.

Thanks to Peterborough Greyhound Stadium there’s a very special incentive to raise as much money as possible as the team that raises the most money will enjoy a night of greyhound racing from the comfort of their own private raceview suite with a sponsored race and delicious finger buffet for up to 40 people – a prize worth £600!

The Greyhound Stadium offers unique spaces for a business meeting during the day and family entertainment in the evening with race nights every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The Stadium employs around 100 people and their dragon boat crew will be made up from all areas of the business.

The Greyhound Stadium’s Business Development Manager, Hannah Thompson comments – “Peterborough Greyhound Stadium are proud to be involved for another year with the annual Dragon Boat Festival and we will make sure the top fundraisers enjoy a good night out. The Dragon Boat Festival is a great event that not only brings people together but raises money for a great local charity. Our team cannot wait for the race!”

Every year, Thorpe Hall has to fundraise £1.5 million to provide their incredible end of life care to people across the region and Nilesh Patel, part of the fundraising team at Thorpe Hall, is urging you to play your part – “The money the teams raise by taking part and raising sponsorship means we can continue to be there to hold someone’s hand, help ease their pain or support their family after they’re gone.”

Here at ESP we’re proud to be a media partner for the event along with Connect FM and we’re looking forward to taking to the water. It’s great fun, easy and you don’t need any experience or equipment so why not join us and battle it out?!
