PETERBOROUGH SPORTS FC BACK ANDY’S MAN CLUB

Peterborough Sports FC and Andy’s Man Club have teamed up to help local guys look after their mental health.

Andy’s Man Club meets every Monday at 7pm at The Hodgson Community Centre in Werrington and is open to all males over the age of 18. All are welcome to pop along for a judgement free chat, cuppa and to have a safe place to open up in total confidence.

The club takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016. On average one man every two hours takes his life in the UK. It’s often said that a factor in this sad statistic is that men don’t talk, that’s why they’ve adopted the hashtag #ItsOkayToTalk.

Peterborough Sports FC is a football club that prides itself on being at the heart of the community and helping local causes.

They’re now affiliated with the Peterborough branch of Andy’s Man Club to help spread the word and encourage guys to open up.

Gemma (above centre), who runs events at The Turbines Tavern, the team’s clubhouse, and Operations Manager Dal have been working with Finley Moore from AMC and the men’s team, now under new management with Michael Gash and Luke Steele.

The players are wearing shirts, selling wristbands and talking to the fans in the clubhouse about mental health support available to them.

Since Peterborough Sports have been promoted to The Vanarama National League, Step 2 the crowds are increasing as are the private bookings for hire of The Turbines Tavern Clubhouse which can cater for up to 120 people.

They also hold a range of events so keep an eye on their website www.pslfc.com and social media or call 07913 761312.
