It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
Serpentine Green Shopping Centre has switched on their lights, and got us all feeling festive.
ESP were at Hampton to join in with the festivities, and of course – chat to our good friend actor Warwick Davis – who was the celebrity guest for the evening.
Joining Warwick on stage to switch on the lights were Kev and Ros from Heart FM, Peterborough United midfielder Grant McCann and Captain Jack Payne, competition winners Shane Baird (8) and Hollie Coupland(14) plus the big man himself… Santa!
Hundreds of families attended the event and really made the most of it. After gazing at the bright lights, many headed to Santa’s grotto – where all money made between now and December 24 will go to the locally based charity, RNIB.
There was also a chance to meet Star Wars and Harry Potter actor, Warwick Davis, who was busy signing autographs and posing for photos with fans for over half an hour after switching on the lights.
During our exclusive chat I asked him how he felt about hundreds of people turning up to see him. “Well, they’re really here to see the lights,” Warwick told me. “And Santa, an Elf, and a lady walking around as a giant Christmas Tree. There are loads of people here and it’s really exciting. It’s a privilege and an honour to turn on the Christmas lights on my own turf.”
Warwick and I continued to talk about the most wonderful time of the year (Christmas) – which can be seen in our video below. The footage also includes ESP giving him his first present of the year, the lights being switched on, and a chat with the most famous man in the world… Father Christmas.
Were you at the light switch-on (November 13)? If so, look out for yourself in our photos in the December issue. If not, head down to Serpentine Green Shopping Centre in Hampton to see the lights for yourself.
