THE WONDER OF CHRISTMAS

ree

The countdown is on to the Wonder of Christmas at Peterborough Cathedral.

There's just not long to go until Peterborough Cathedral opens its doors to a new magical world of wonder. From November 19 to December 4 on selected dates, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in The Wonder of Christmas, a celebration of light, music, and community creativity.

It sounds an amazing new experience the whole family will love. From the moment you arrive, Cathedral Square will be aglow with guiding lights, snow will drift at the entrance, and the Norman Arch will be framed by a radiant circle of light, welcoming you on a journey of discovery. Inside, immersive light and sound projections will lead you through the Cathedral’s medieval spaces, including a spectacular projection on the Nave ceiling where the guiding star will shine above.

Over 30 local schools have decorated papier-mâché reindeer and other animals, and there’ll be over 40 real Christmas trees decorated by community groups, charities, and local businesses, forming the Cathedral's inaugural Christmas Tree Festival, open daily and continuing the festivities into the new year. Outside, you can grab a selfie or family photo with a giant sleigh and reindeer on the West Lawn, light displays on trees and buildings will illuminate the grounds and festoon lights will guide you through the West Front doors.

Pre-booked tickets will be checked at the Norman Arch, and card payments will be accepted on the night, subject to availability (pre-booking is advised). The Christmas Tree Festival is included in the ticketed evening event but will also be open during the day during normal opening hours until January 7, with entry by suggested donation.
