THE LIDO DOG SWIM IS BACK!

We all love our four-legged friends and we all love the Lido so here’s a chance to have fun in the pool with your pet pooch.

The hugely popular Dog Swim is back to end the Lido’s summer season in style on Saturday September 17.

Peterborough Lido hosted a Dog Swim for the first time in 2021, and it sold out in record time! This year, there’s more chance to enjoy a doggy paddle with four sessions available throughout the day.

The Dog Swim takes place between 9am and 4pm, when dogs are invited to make a splash in the pool, enjoy the grassy areas with their canine friends and relax with their humans with a special ‘doggycino’ from the café.

Managing Director of Peterborough Limited, the organisation behind Vivacity, Kitran Eastman, attended the event in 2021 with her dog Cato. She said: “Cato wasn’t sure to start with, but I’d bought him a special shark fin that meant he was soon paddling away!

“Dog swims are growing in popularity at Lidos across the country and we’re delighted to be able to offer this opportunity in Peterborough. Obviously, for hygiene reasons, it’s not something that can be done during the peak Lido season, but we’d love you to bring your best friend along for an end of season paw-ty!”

You’re encouraged to accompany your dog in the water or closely supervise from the side-lines while furry friends take a dip. There are health and safety guidelines to follow and supervising dog owners must be over the age of 18 and take full responsibility for their pets whilst at the event.

The Dog Swim is a ticket only event and numbers are limited, so book early to make sure you don’t miss out. Tickets cost £7 per dog and supervising adult and £4 per additional person.

Swim session times are 9.00am–10.30am, 10.45am–12.15pm, 12.30pm–2.00pm and 2.15pm–3.45pm. Tickets can be booked online at www.vivacity.org/dogswim

2022 has been a fantastic year for the Lido with multiple heatwaves and the popular addition of more early morning and evening swims. The final public (human!) swimming sessions of the year will be on Sunday September 11.
