SKIFFLE RETURNS TO PETERBOROUGH

Peterborough will come alive to the striking sound of Skiffle music when national guitarist and banjoist Warren James treats the city’s music fans to his ‘Skiffle Session’ concert.

The Ostrich Inn on Peterborough’s North Street have proudly announced that the Skiffle and acoustic-roots music star Warren James, a regular performer in the nation’s top theatres, is to bring his special brand of turbo-charged acoustic folk, country-blues, gospel and jazz to the cities popular free-entry music venue when he takes to the stage on Friday December 13.

Highly respected among acoustic-roots music fans and an exciting act at global music events, James is a rousing and addictively exuberant folk-rocker who, like Lonnie Donegan on ecstasy, sends the very best of Americana roots music, along with the audiences, soaring to new heights with his almost manic energy.

“Skiffle was the UK’s original acoustic-pop,” says Warren, “it’s black music, blues, country, folk and jazz which grew from a huge variety of sounds happening in New Orleans and gradually it emerged as Skiffle, a genre in its own right. The songs are often trad, they’re simple, fun and require little more than three chords on a guitar, as easy as that you can start your group. Skiffle is heavy stuff, almost folk/country-punk. The important thing for those who want to play but don’t know where to start, I offer a cool path for getting started.”

Don’t miss what is set to be a great night of live music and a rare intimate performance by a world class performer.
