A Peterborough tourist attraction is getting set to open its gates again on July 4 following the latest Government announcements.
Initially only opening at weekends, Sacrewell Farm in Thornhaugh will have a pre-booked ticketing system in place, with limited visitor numbers available for either a morning or an afternoon session.
The attraction has come up with some new ideas to cope with continuing restrictions which mean the indoor play areas still can’t be used. They’re introducing three exciting and interactive walking trails for visitors to take part in during their session; each themed around the site’s history, heritage and rare breed farm animals.
General manager, Lee Scowen, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming families back onto the site. We’ve risk-assessed all possible outcomes in order for us to be able to reopen on the weekend of July 4th, in line with advice from the Government and have been working hard behind the scenes to think of fun and creative ways that our visitors can still enjoy a wonderful few hours at Sacrewell Farm.
“In order to do so, we will be capping the number of people on site at any one time, cleaning thoroughly between sessions and utilising the beautiful outdoor spaces that we have here to create the award-winning experiences that our visitors are used to.”
A percentage of spaces for annual pass holders will be ring-fenced for each session.
On July 4 and 5, Origin8 will be operating a pop-up paella stand in the grounds of the farm as well as offering take away refreshments from the cafe. Family picnic boxes are available to order on their website www.origin8delicafes.com
The site has some beautiful and safe picnic spots around the 18th Century Watermill and Mill Pond, with stunning views of the surrounding farmland and waterways.
Lee added: “We hope to increase the number of days we’re open over the following weeks, based on Government guidelines and continued risk assessments for both our staff and visitors. As such, visitors won’t be able to interact with our animals directly but will still be able to visit them in the paddocks and learn all about our heritage and rare breeds.
“Despite the current circumstances, this is still going to be a really exciting year for Sacrewell Farm with some wonderful projects in process.”
The team will be keeping a close eye on Government guidelines as to when indoor play areas will be allowed to open and entry prices will reflect the offer available but are subject to change at any time.
Sessions will run from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm. Tickets must be pre-booked at www.sacrewell.org.uk
