NVR FAMILY FUN IN AUGUST

If you’re looking for holiday activities that won’t break the bank, Nene Valley Railway has plenty of family fun lined up this August.

They’re making family days out more affordable this summer with the return of the popular Kids for a Quid offer every Wednesday throughout August, complemented by a programme of family-friendly events running across the school holidays.

Designed to help families enjoy a great-value day out, children can travel for just £1 when accompanied by a full-paying adult, with unlimited travel on the railway's heritage services throughout the day. Families are free to hop on and off the trains, explore the stations, enjoy picnic areas, and discover everything the railway has to offer at their own pace.

To make each Wednesday even more special, a different family attraction is included with the Day Pass every week.

On Wednesday August 5, visitors can enjoy walkaround magic and balloon modelling, followed by interactive wildlife displays featuring a fascinating variety of animals on Wednesday August 12.

On Wednesday August 19, families can enjoy the brand-new Muddle Mystery, an interactive mystery-solving adventure from the team behind the railway's popular Murder on the Railway events. Please note that Muddle Mystery is a separately ticketed event due to its limited capacity and is not included with Kids for a Quid tickets. Muddle Mystery tickets include both the mystery experience and a Kids for a Quid Day Pass, allowing unlimited travel on the day's heritage train services.

The August programme concludes on Wednesday August 26 with a traditional Punch & Judy Show, bringing one of Britain's best-loved family entertainments to Wansford Station.

The following day, Thursday August 27, the railway will host its annual Inclusion Day, also as part of the Kids for a Quid offer. Designed to provide a relaxed and welcoming environment for visitors with both visible and hidden disabilities, the day will feature designated quiet spaces, support from the railway's Autism Railway Crew, and the same great-value £1 children's travel.

A spokesperson for the Nene Valley Railway said: "We know the summer holidays can be an expensive time for families, so Kids for a Quid is our way of helping people enjoy a full day out without the high price tag. With unlimited train travel, different entertainment every week, and plenty to explore along the railway, there's something new to enjoy each time you visit.

“Alongside Kids for a Quid, we're also delighted to be welcoming Trainmaster and Paddington to the railway this summer, giving families even more reasons to visit and create lasting memories together."

Later in the month, on Sunday August 23, families can enjoy a marmalade-filled day out as Paddingtonâ„¢ makes personal appearances throughout the day at Wansford Station alongside unlimited heritage train travel.
