It’s the big lights switch on at Queensgate Shopping Centre on Saturday November 19, kicking off some great entertainment and surprises every weekend until the Big Day.
Join Queensgate on Saturday for the official opening of Christmas at 2pm when the stunning light displays will be switched on! There’ll be incredible entertainment by performers throughout the day, including the Ice Queen in her fawn-drawn sleigh, the Ice Princess and Jack Frost stilt walkers and the LED Gliding Fairies. There will also be an ice juggler, and a glitter artist giving sparkly festive face makeovers. Plus, enjoy DIY bauble workshops all set to the joyful tones of the Peterborough Operatic Society at 11am and 3pm.
Most importantly, Santa will also be swinging by. This year he’s gone tech-savvy with his Giant Virtual Reality Bauble, a super-cool experience that will transport the whole family to Santa’s workshop in Lapland. You can pop on the VR headsets, sit back and relax as you’re whisked off to a whole new world of wonder.
Tickets are available to book until December 24 for just £4 per person, or £15 per family of 2 adults and 3 children (a small booking fee will be added at checkout).
Katie Chapman, Marketing and Commercialisation Manager at Queensgate said: “We are so excited for the events and entertainment Queensgate is hosting this year. We have included lots to suit everyone and most of it is for free. We can’t wait to see the joy on the children’s faces this Christmas.”
Then on Saturday November 26 the festive fun continues with the arrival of The Roller Baubles, a trio who’ll be showing off their roller-skating skills as they whizz throughout the mall. They will be performing between 11am and 3pm.
The DIY Bauble Workshop will also be back from 11am to 3pm and located in North Square so you can make the most of your time as a family and create new decorations and magic memories – all for free.
On Saturday December 3 you can capture your cheeky ‘resting Grinch face’ with the family at Queensgate with a group photo in The Giant Photo Bauble from 11am to 3pm, complete with artificial snow to create a winter wonderland scene.
Also, create your own baubles from pinecones and recycled bits at the DIY Bauble Workshop from 11am to 3pm.
Then prepare to be dazzled by the Bauble Acrobatics on Saturday December 10. Featuring a mind-blowingly bendy Christmassy contortionist, a bauble stilt walker, an aerial hoop snowflake and an acrobatic elf! Check out the performances between 11am and 3pm.
Plus, mischievous Elves are ready to show you how to create your own baubles at the DIY Bauble Workshop 11am to 3pm.
The Giant Photo Bauble returns on Saturday December 17 when you can have some fun with the cheeky elves at the Giant Bauble and strike a funny pose and say ‘snowballs’. Everyone gets to take home a picture all for a voluntary donation to charity. Open from 11am to 3pm.
