Get ready for something you’ve never seen before as the Peterborough Arts Festival takes over the city centre  and sees the summer out in style!

The city centre will come alive with dozens of street performers, circus acts and unusual entertainment throughout the weekend of Saturday September 6 and Sunday September 7 as the festival brings us some truly amazing free performances.

This will be the third year Vivacity has been a part of the Zepa 2 partnership project which links seven arts organisations across England and France, and allows them to bring the best European artists here to Peterborough.

There’ll be performances on Cathedral Square, in the Cathedral Precincts, up and down Bridge Street and at the Key Theatre and Broadway Theatre.

Make sure you head into town this weekend – you never know what you’ll see!

As well as  free street performances throughout the weekend there are two major highlights. Firstly there are the world renowned street entertainers Transe Express with their giant dolls and flamboyant drummers taking over Cathedral Square with music, madness, pyrotechnics and fireworks on Saturday evening.

Transe Express are an explosive mix of music, theatre, visual arts, acrobatics and large scale installations that have travelled the world and you can watch it all for free in the city centre from 7pm!

The weekend’s finale will move over to the Broadway Theatre on Sunday with the prestigious and world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) in concert with four of the country’s finest West End and concert performers. They’ll be singing timeless showstoppers from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Kiss Me Kate and many more.

Tickets for this event are now on sale priced at £15, £20 and £25 on 01733 207239.

The full festival programme, including dates, times and information is available on so don’t forget to check in there to plan your day and find out more about the amazing artists performing across the Peterborough Arts Festival weekend.
