Come on girls, this is your last chance  to enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at Burghley House as the countdown’s on to registration closing.

With the Stamford 10K event already full, there are just a few places left to join the formidable army who are ready to take on cancer on Sunday June 1 in the 5K.

Entry closes for the Stamfrod event on Friday May 30 and organisers are encouraging mums, daughters, grannies, sisters, friends and workmates who want to take part in the women-only events to sign up as soon as possible at www.raceforlife.org

Peterborough is likewise filling up fast with entries taken until Saturday July 5 but be sure to book early as there are just a few hundred places left. The ESP Dance Crew helped launch the event at Serpentine Green shopping centre recently teaching shoppers the Cancer Slam dance routine and recruiting ladies for the Peterborough race which takes place on TuesdayJuly 8 at 7.30pm.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, is an inspiring women-only series of 5k, 10k and Pretty Muddy events which raises millions of pounds every year to help beat cancer sooner.

Gemma Turpin and Julie Braithwaite, Event Managers for Race for Life for East said: “We are very grateful to the women who have already entered Race for Life in Stamford and Peterborough. But we still have places left so we are urging women to sign up as soon as possible.”

By raising money through Race for Life, people in the East are helping Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists make advances in research which will help more men, women and children survive.

Women of all shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness take part in Race for Life. They come from different backgrounds and walks of life but they are united by their absolute determination to take on the disease and beat it.

Gemma continued: “Race for Life is not competitive and it’s not about being fit or fast. It’s about thousands of women coming together to show cancer who’s boss.”

Women can boost their contribution to Cancer Research UK’s work by doing a ‘wardrobe work-out’ before their event. The charity is encouraging them to sort out and bag up hidden treasures such as quality clothes, books and accessories they no longer use and take them to the Donation Station at Race for Life.  Each bag of goods could help raise up to £30 for groundbreaking research.

Every participant receives a donation bag, along with a Gift Aid form, as part of their Race for Life entry pack. Just by completing the form and popping it in their bag, women can boost the value of their donation by an extra 25 per cent.

Cancer Research UK receives no Government funding for its ground-breaking research but

with help from the people of Stamford and Peterborough the charity intends to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
