GET READY TO MAKE A SPLASH THIS SUMMER!

It’s time to get your crew signed up – we want no mutineers – just teams willing to join ESP Magazine in this summer’s Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival!

ESP Magazine is proud to be the new print media partner for this fantastic fun event as we celebrate our 18th year.

This great family day out at the Rowing Lake on Thorpe Meadows on Saturday June 10 will see dozens of crews take to the water, including an ESP team, all aiming to raise cash for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall and have a laugh in the process.

It’s dead easy, no experience is needed and everything’s provided so why not get your pub team or office mates together and join us?

Buckles Solicitors (pictured above) enjoyed it so much in previous years they were among the first to put their names down once again.

Jessica Hutchinson, Marketing Administrator at Buckles Solicitors told ESP – “Having taken to the waters in 2015 as ‘The Muscles from Buckles’ and in 2016 as ‘The Oarsome Lawsome’ we couldn’t resist another fun filled day to raise money for such a great cause.

“This event is always a good team building opportunity and hopefully now, with a couple of years of experience under our belt, we may make it a little higher up the score board and beat our PB race time.”

It’s a great day out for those involved but even if you’re not competing there’s plenty of bankside fun in between the races and Connect FM will be commentating and keeping you entertained.

“Even if the weather is dull, people’s spirits never are,” added Jessica. “It’s so nice to see that even when people are cold and tired, everyone cheers each other on because we’re all really there for the same purpose, and that is to raise as much money as we can.

It’s not just corporate teams who take part – groups of mates, pub teams, sports teams and anyone who fancies getting a team together can go for it.

You can create your own spot along the bank with a gazebo and make it a real day out.

Jessica continued – “Our team becomes more diverse year on year with more people wanting to get involved each time we take part. This year we have a crew made up of men and women with a massive range of all ages and job roles, from our younger business support staff to our older partners in the firm. A very important team member is someone who doesn’t actually step foot on the boat – Chef Nigel – the head of our Company Commercial department dons his chef hat every year to keep food cooking on the BBQ all day for the crew.

“We will be raising money for Thorpe Hall Hospice again this year and having raised £2,000 and taken away the ‘Charity Champions’ award last year, we hope to be able to do the same again this year.”

As the top fundraisers at the event they won the a private raceview suite, finger buffet and sponsored race worth £600 at Peterborough Greyhound Stadium which is up for grabs again this year.

Plenty of teams have already signed up and our ESP crew are limbering up ready to take on Amaray, Ballast Phoenix, NetSupport Ltd, Buckles Solicitors LLP, Rawlinsons, PS Financials Ltd, Midco Care, Barhale PLC, Froglife, Environmental GB Ltd and Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall.

So what are you waiting for, form a crew and enter the challenge – we’ll see you on the water and you might see yourself in ESP!
