Antiques Roadshow presenter Fiona Bruce is urging people to get involved in a one off evaluation day in aid of Thorpe Hall Hospice in the hope experts will identify a hidden treasure.

Hundreds of people have been pleasantly surprised when experts on the popular BBC television series have revealed the history – and value – of family heirlooms, childhood collections and junk shop finds.

Fiona said: “Don’t forget that car boot bargain could turn out to be a piece of Fabergé… it happens on the Roadshow more often than you might think.”

And she went on to wish the organisers – Thorpe Hall Hospice’s public appeal committee – the best for the event being held at The Red Lion in Warmington, near Oundle.

“Best of luck and I hope you raise lots of money.”

Visitors are being invited to bring along one item for valuation by a number of experts including two familiar faces from the Antiques Roadshow. Former Burghley House director Lady Victoria Leatham will be joined by George Archdale, an associate at locally-based Cheffins.

The ticket price of £15 includes lunch or tea. They can be bought beforehand from The Red Lion or on the door. Doors will be open from 11am until 4pm. For more information please email

All the money raised on the day will help boost the £6 million Thorpe Hall Capital Appeal, funding the building of a new hospice at Thorpe Hall in Peterborough to serve the region for generations to come.
