Time to get your fairy wings on and head to Queensgate Shopping Centre…
Stamford-based children’s brain tumour charity, Anna’s Hope is inviting friends, families, work colleagues and fairies from across the region to help break a Guinness World Record at Queensgate Shopping Centre Peterborough on Sunday September 24.
The charity, which is Queensgate’s charity of the year 2017/18, will attempt to break the World Record for the ‘Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Fairies’ in one place, which currently stands at a huge 871.
Men, women, boys and girls can all take part but to be part of the World Record attempt, they MUST wear AT LEAST THREE crucial fairy items: 1. A Tutu. 2. Wings and 3. Carry a Wand.
Founder of Anna’s Hope, Carole Hughes, whose charity logo is a fairy and volunteers are famous for the fairy outfits they wear at fundraising events said; “By dressing up as a Fairy and coming to the event you will not only become a World Record Holder and have some fun but you will also help raise awareness of Brain Tumours which is the country’s biggest cancer killer of children and young people.”
Fairies are asked to arrive at Queensgate Shopping Centre from 8am and no later than 9am where they will be checked then counted into the World Record attempt area in Central Square (outside Primark). Car parks at Queensgate Centre will be open from 7.30am.
Once the record attempt has been completed at around 10am, there will be entertainment and activities taking place throughout the day at Queensgate Shopping Centre for all the family.
“This is a wonderful idea and we’re very excited to be supporting this event,” said Centre Director at Queensgate, Mark Broadhead. He added: “By bringing such a large number of people together, we hope this raises important awareness for Anna’s Hope while creating a memorable and fun event for all that take part.”
Entrance to the Guinness World Record Attempt is FREE by online registration only. To register and get an entry ticket please go to Eventbrite https://fairyworldrecord.eventbrite.co.uk
The event is open to all but children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult who also needs to be dressed as a fairy.
