Dobbies Make-A-Wish for a magical Christmas…
Dobbies Garden World, Peterborough, has made a wish for a truly magical Christmas season and with the help of a leading UK charity, coupled with a sprinkling of festive sparkle, their wish has been granted.
To launch the Christmas shopping season and kick-start its National Christmas charity partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK, which aims to raise £100k for the children’s wish-granting charity, the leading garden centre retailer is hosting its annual Christmas Charity Evening on Thursday October 3.
Join Dobbies, Peterborough, as they embark on their festive journey, bringing Christmas to life through live demonstrations including ‘How to make an edible Christmas tree decoration’ and ‘How to theme your Christmas Tree.’ With live musical performances and a handful of foodie demonstrations, there really is something for everyone.
Nadine Fountain, Community Champion for Dobbies Peterborough said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Make-A-Wish this year and helping to raise vital funds to grant wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions across the UK.
“Christmas is a special time for many people and we’re looking forward to welcoming children, parents, grandparents and friends to our garden centre to enjoy a fun-filled festive evening, brimming with festive demo’s, live entertainment, mince pies and mulled wine.
“We have various events planned as part of our Christmas fundraising campaign – from Ladies Night to Santa’s Arrival, and we’re excited to be working with Make-A-Wish to make as many wishes as possible come true.”
Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. Established in the UK in 1986, the charity has granted more than 8,000 wishes. In 2013, Make-A-Wish aims to raise £7 million in order to grant more than 1,000 magical wishes across the UK.
Customers visiting Dobbies between now and Christmas Eve will also be able to make a festive wish or leave a seasonal message for a loved one, on Dobbies’ wish tree. Special wish baubles can be purchased for a minimum £1 donation.
Amanda Williams, Director of Fundraising at Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK, said: “We are thrilled that Dobbies has chosen to fundraise for Make-A-Wish. Each year more and more children are turning to us to have their magical wish granted, and this year we hope to grant over 1,000 wishes, so their support really is invaluable.”
Tickets for Dobbies’ Christmas Charity Evening are £1 and include a mince pie and mulled wine on arrival, with all ticket proceeds donated directly to Make-A-Wish.
There will also be a traditional Christmas Carvery available in the restaurant, which includes roast turkey with all the trimmings, for £8.50, served from 4.30pm.
