The Cambridgeshire Classic Sportive cycle event returns to Peterborough soon.
It’s taking place at the East of England Arena and Events Centre on Sunday March 1 and is a gentle early season ride to get the year’s training underway, with routes suitable for all levels, from newcomers to seasoned cyclists.
Heading out from the East of England Arena, riders will warm up on the first climb of the day as they pass Elton Golf club. A gradual descent will welcome them as they touch the edge of the village of Elton, followed by an opportunity to open the legs up on a long undulating stretch towards Wansford and over the river Nene.
All routes on the Cambridgeshire Classic Sportive have a series of short climbs and descents, broken up by opportunities to spin those legs back into shape on the flatter sections.
Cyclists will be able to enjoy superb views as they traverse rural Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. Riders on the standard and epic routes (55 miles and 70 miles respectively) may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the tigers prowling their cages as they pass through Hamerton, making this a truly unique ride experience.
Jason Lunn, East of England Arena venue director, welcomed the event back, saying, “The Cambridgeshire Classic is a great event, attracting cycling enthusiasts from all over the region looking to get back into the saddle after a long winter, as they prepare for the main event season. It’s a pleasure to welcome this event back to the venue, and we’re all looking forward to helping make it a success.”
