GREAT EASTERN RUN ROUTE INCLUDES CITY LANDMARKS

Peterborough’s landmarks are set to feature as record numbers of runners are expected to take part in the 2026 AEPG Great Eastern Run.

Thousands of participants are expected to descend on the city for the AEPG Great Eastern Run Half Marathon and Anna’s Hope 5K Fun Run on Sunday October 11, with runners set to enjoy a spectacular route showcasing some of Peterborough’s best-known landmarks.

A key highlight of the 2026 route will be Peterborough Cathedral, with runners set to pass this iconic landmark as they make their way through the heart of the city.

As part of the route arrangements for 2026, Priestgate will be used for the city-centre section of the route, reflecting the regeneration work currently taking place in Peterborough city centre.

Participants will also pass a number of other prominent landmarks, including Peterborough Museum, Cathedral Square and the Guildhall, before heading around Central Park.

The combination of historic landmarks, city-centre streets, green spaces and the support of local spectators will provide runners with a memorable backdrop as they take on the 2026 challenge.

“The 2026 routes give participants the opportunity to see some of Peterborough’s most recognisable landmarks, including Peterborough Cathedral, the Museum, Cathedral Square and the Guildhall.

“We’ve worked carefully around the ongoing regeneration of the city centre and we’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of runners, supporters and spectators to Peterborough and creating another memorable Great Eastern Run.”

The AEPG Great Eastern Run is a major fixture in Peterborough’s sporting calendar, attracting runners of all abilities and bringing together local clubs, charities, community groups, volunteers and spectators.

With record participation and over £300,000 of fundraising for local charities expected, the event is set to create a vibrant atmosphere across Peterborough as runners and their supporters come together to celebrate one of the region’s biggest running events – with organisers encouraging local residents to get involved in cheering along the runners and urging volunteers to come forward to support the event.
