COLLEGE OPEN DAY

Learn a new skill at Peterborough Regional College’s next Open Day & Have a Go Event on Monday March 11.

The Park Crescent site will be transformed into a hub of activity as the local FE College and University Centre both open their doors to 100s of eager new learners.

Visitors can take a look around the impressive campus from their motor vehicle and construction workshops to the new executive Peter Jones Enterprise Academy teaching area within Peterborough Regional College.

Tutors will be on hand from each subject area to answer any questions new learners may have whether they are looking for a full-time course or degree to start this September or a part-time or evening course starting sooner.

Many areas will be running ‘have a go’ tasters in their subjects too, to give the visitors an idea of the type of activities and equipment the course may involve.

Why not give filming a go at the college’s Media & Journalism Centre located on Broadway, which will also be open for visitors between 6pm and 8pm.

Or maybe travel is more your thing? Take a look at the real to industry aircraft cabin and run through the safety demonstrations with the travel & tourism team.

The construction team will be running some activities in preparation for their STEM week next week (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths). Have a go at being a fast fit plumber or maybe building PRC is more for you using design software AutoCAD.

The Open Day has something for everyone from learners aged 16 and leaving school to further their education to adult learners wanting to expand their knowledge or re-train. There are a range of part-time and evening courses starting from April 2013, and will be available to apply for on the open day night. This includes, landscape photography, freelance journalism, tap dancing and pattern cutting.

In addition to this there are a range of environmental courses for trained plumbers to expand their skills ready for the summer including BPEC approved qualifications in Photovoltaic Solar (PV) and rainwater harvesting.

A wide range of general advice and guidance will be available as well from the college’s Information Centre, including transport and funding that is available to support the course fees; for example the 24+ loan and Peterborough Educational Trust

If you have not been to the impressive University Centre Peterborough building yet, why not? Two amazing and state of the art floors including a suspended lecture theatre. The University Centre have a large range of degrees available, full or part-time; including teaching qualifications, Business, Finance, Media, Marketing, Criminology and Computing to name just a few. And with one of the lowest fees in the country, it really is an option worth exploring.

Come and see for yourself this Monday March 11 Peterborough Regional College and University Centre Peterborough Open Day events, 6pm – 8pm.
