Chance to go climbing for charity at Serpentine Green Shopping Centre…

ESP is working with Peterborough based charity Sports Connections Foundation and has been chatting to some of the charity’s ambassadors in recent issues.

Now the SCF charity is staging a fundraising event you can get involved with this weekend on Sunday September 10.

Sports Connections Foundation are once again grabbing their fundraising buckets, this time for a day of wall climbing at The Serpentine Green Shopping Centre in Hampton, Peterborough. From 10am until 4pm, they aim to ‘climb’ Ben Nevis, which is 1,345 metres in height – then turn those metres into pounds to help vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the UK.

The 2 person climbing wall supplied by Warehouse Climbing Centre in Gloucester, is 5 metres high, and the staff at Tesco have agreed to help out with their target.

There will also be fun mini challenges for the kids – you can have a go at kicking a ball into their giant ProKick goal, which measures the speed of your kick so you can compare it to the professionals! Or can you guess the name of their SCF bear for your chance to win one of many prizes including VIP tickets to a Premier League match?

There will also be sports personalities attending on the day, to impress you with their own kicking skills, and help with the climbing target.

The children you will be helping by supporting this event will be truly grateful – a couple of them are hoping to attend the event so you may even meet the little heroes!

The charity helps disadvantaged and vulnerable children with their Inspire Through Sport mentor programme, which helps to lead these young children away from a life of crime and poverty. Some of the children that SCF help, face life threatening illnesses every day of their lives, or have life limiting conditions meaning they are confined to wheelchairs but they keep smiling and living life as much as they can. Having something to look forward to and share memories with their families, such as a Sporting Wish to meet their fave football team that SCF can provide, means the world to them.

So pop down to Serpentine Green Shopping Centre on Sunday September 10 to join in the fun and raise funds.
