It’s time to celebrate the Festival of Lights!
Diwali is perhaps the most well-known of the Hindu festivals. Vivacity Peterborough Libraries is offering families the chance to celebrate it in style with a range of entertaining activities for the whole family.
This event will be held at Bretton Library on Saturday October 11, 1pm-2.30pm and Central Library on Saturday October 11, 2pm-3.30pm.
Find out all about this Festival of Lights, its origins and how it is celebrated. Enjoy listening to some Diwali-themed stories, plus decorate your own diya (a clay lamp) and take it home.
At Diwali, Hindus also make bright Rangoli designs on the floor near to the entrance of homes. Choose a pattern and make your own to take home. Plus you’ll be able to learn some Indian dance steps. There’ll be activities for very young children too.

Don’t forget the city centre’s big Diwali Festival in Cathedral Square on Saturday October 18 from 11am – 5pm.
