The overall Champion Ale of the 40th Peterborough Beer Festival is…
Two beers in fact!
The joint winners of the Gold award after the arduous (we’re sure it was!) beer judging session were Lacons Encore and Magic Rock Inhaler, with the Bronze award going to Turning Point Avalon.
ESP’s very own Mikey Clarke was our man on the judging panel – needless to say he’s been in a darkened room ever since!

The festival has got off to a great start with crowds of real ale fans – and gin fans now there’s a special Gin Bar – all pouring onto the Embankment to enjoy the brews and tunes.
It’s a family friendly festival and afternoon and early evenings are best if you’re taking the kids along.
The Beer Festival continues through until Saturday with later closing Friday and Saturday until 11.30pm this year.
There’s live music throughout the day and evening and if you’re not a huge real ale fan it’s still a great social event with a wide range of other drinks (including soft ones!) for you to try, as well as a range of delicious food.
