Iconic London department store Harrods has sent a very special Christmas delivery to the NSPCC’s service centre in Peterborough.
The centre, which helps children who have experienced abuse to rebuild their lives, has taken delivery of 12 of the store’s signature Christmas teddy bears called ‘Hugh’.
Last year more than 260 children and adults were given help at the centre based in the city’s Flag Business Exchange.
Harrods has been a corporate partner of the NSPCC since March 2015, supporting the charity through employee fundraising and donating prizes for events and auctions and items for its service centres.
Tahira Rauf, NSPCC’s Peterborough Service Manager, said: “Toys and playing are a really important part of our work. Children use toys to act out experiences they have had so they can work through their emotions safely. ‘Hugh’ will be incredibly beneficial for this reason.
“These lovely teddy bears will make a big difference to the youngest children that come here. They will offer children a source of love and cuddles throughout their journey with us and they will continue to provide them with comfort once they’ve left our care.”
Susan Barrowman, Charity Manager at Harrods, said: “Harrods is delighted to support the NSPCC by sending out our famous Christmas Bear, Hugh, to all the service centres across the UK.”
