TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

Wildlife Week is back at Sacrewell Farm & Country Centre following it’s successful launch last year!

The event will run throughout February half term, February 9 -17 and there’ll be plenty of fun-filled activities for the whole family to enjoy.

With half of all youngsters today not being able to identify a daddy-long legs or recognise a Blue Tit, General Manager Mike Rooney says – “As part of our role as a local charity, we want to raise awareness of the importance of our countryside and the natural world.”

He added – “Farming is vitally important for food production, but it can also benefit wildlife and we like to think we can demonstrate that here at Sacrewell. Through sympathetic farming we can protect our wildlife habitats.”

Children (and adults!) will enjoy following the Farm’s revamped Wildlife Trail to discover fun animal facts. Find out more about wildlife at the Farm, including bats in the 18th century Watermill and swans on the Mill Pond. You may even get to see the Farm’s hedgerow inhabitants up close with a Small Mammal Safari! Children can also take part in Pond Dipping, try their hand at some creative craft activities and enjoy a bumpy Tractor & Trailer Ride around the 550-acre working farm.

Make the most of the week by staying on the caravan and camping site (don’t forget that caravan and camping prices include entrance into the Farm!) and while you’re here, take the opportunity to feed the friendly animals and play in our indoor Activity Barn and dedicated Under 3s Soft Play Area.

Enjoy some tasty home-cooked lunches, warming soup and sweet treats in The Fresh Restaurant while looking out over the beautiful countryside or browse the fantastic selection of fine foods and great gifts in the Three Little Ducks Shop. Whatever the weather, there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained!

Sacrewell Farm has held its prices for 2013 with under 2s visitng the Farm for free, so you can enjoy a fantastic family day out that’s great value for money. Open daily, 9.30am-5pm from February 9. Before  February 9, opening hours are 10am-4pm. Normal admission prices apply and activities and times vary.
