RECTORY FARM KITCHEN REVIEW

Nestled at the side of a country road, a mile or so outside of Warmington, is an oasis – the wonderful Rectory Farm Kitchen.

This idyllic coffee shop, which only opened its door in October last year, sells a vast selection of breakfast and lunchtime treats, with views over the stunning Northamptonshire countryside.

I hadn’t heard of Rectory Farm Kitchen until ESP was given the opportunity to head over for a spot of lunch, so I jumped at the chance to try somewhere new and off the beaten track.

Inside it’s light and airy with plenty of space for a good number of diners (there’s an outside seating area if you fancy braving the unpredictable British weather!)

The staff greeted us with a warm smile and were happy to suggest options for popular items on the menu – this was a great help, as I struggled to decide between several delicious-sounding light bites!

In the end, I went with a warm steak baguette which was topped with fried onions and black garlic mayonnaise. It was mouthwatering – the steak was tender, and the mayonnaise added lots of flavour. On the side were some crisps and a salad. The lovely waitress serving told me it was one of their popular foods.

I have a sweet tooth so of course, I decided to top off my baguette with a slice of Jaffa Cake cake, which tasted just as the name suggests.

Rectory Farm is more than just a café though. It also has small shop inside where you can stock up on locally-sourced food items (where possible, the produce served in the café is sourced from local independent suppliers and is cooked fresh to order), as well gifts including notebooks, mugs, paintings and much more.

A big selling point of Rectory Farm Kitchen is that it’s totally dog friendly. In fact, one of the staff told me that they get lots of four-legged visitors, which they love having through their doors. Well-behaved pooches are able to join their human family inside, but you can sit outside with your canine friend too. And, if like my ever-hungry spaniel, your dog looks at you with big eyes every time you bite into your food, the shop sells a range of dog treats – from gluten free lamb bones to liver and bacon bones – so your best pal can enjoy a lunchtime treat by your side!

Rectory Farm Kitchen, Lutton Road, Peterborough, is open seven days a week. Food is served from 9am to 3pm. Vegan options are also available.
