Take a trip to the deep south at the new Hickory's Smokehouse Peterborough in Hampton and you won’t be disappointed by these amazing smokehouse flavours.
The wooden panelling, low lighting and Americana artworks really give it that southern, food shack, vibe from the moment you step inside.
You can pop in just for a drink, or snack or go the whole hog and dine out on everything from barbecue trays and burgers to ribs and mac & cheese.
We tried a delicious sharing platter of appetisers to get an idea of the different dishes and flavours with smoked chicken wings and sausage, corn ribs and more.

Then we picked a main meal each with one of our party opting for the Go Big or Go Home super burger stack – it was so wonderfully tasty but no surprise that a take-home box was needed as it’s such a large portion.
The pulled pork bap and chicken fajitas were also consumed with enthusiasm. You’ll definitely be needing the large wet wipes they supply, appropriately labelled as something ’to get you out of a sticky situation’!

There are some really creative food and drink options and the desserts are the same – we loved the elaborately constructed and oh-so-nice Fro-Co pots (frozen custard) but you can also try s’mores and toast your marshmallows over your own mini barbecue! Many drinks are served in jugs and jars for a moonshine feel, with a range of refreshing cocktails/mocktails also on offer.
It’s big food, with mouth-watering smokehouse flavours and generous portions. Our advice – skip lunch and go in with a big appetite!

We also had a vegan diner in our party to put them to the test and despite being a smokehouse with so many meat dishes on offer, Hickory's proved they can cater for all tastes. The frickles (deep fried pickles) and tasty smoked sauce had the thumbs up and the vegan fajitas were delicious. There are various vegan and vegetarian options available so everyone can enjoy a meal out together.

If you’re a sports fan you definitely won’t miss a thing. There are several screens around the bar area, including one outside on the terrace, a dedicated sports room and you can even have your own booth near the bar with a screen of its own!

The layout is well divided though so there are various ‘zones’ with different vibes including more family orientated areas, varied seating options from tables to booths and even a mini cinema room! Kids can also enjoy a play area in the garden.
It’s great to see a different food offer in Peterborough and it’s well worth a meal out so go give it a try soon y’all!
