The Peterborough Cathedral Pancake Race is returning on Tuesday February 25 – but teams must book up fast in order to enter.

The annual event will see teams of four doing two circuits around the Cathedral Precincts, with relay handover points along the way.

There will also be a ‘flip zone’ where runners will need to stop and complete five full flips of their pancake – closely watched by a pancake adjudicator – before continuing onto the next handover point.

If you take part you’re encouraged to wear traditional pancake racing attire, although other fancy dress is also permissible. Clothing will need to be suitable for the event – fancy dress should be knee length or higher – and running shoes or trainers must be worn.

Pancakes will be provided, but teams will need to take along a frying pan. Everyone who takes part will receive a medal. Spectators are also encouraged to go along to support their team.

It’s hoped that this year’s event will match the success of the 2019 race, where 12 teams took part, with Moore Stephens accountants lifting the Champions Trophy.

The entry fee is £20 per team of four – but teams MUST book up by Friday February 21. To enter, please visit https://www.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk/userfiles/pancake-form-2020.pdf

Details of the route and the rules of the race can also be found there. Further information can also be found via https://www.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk/143/section.aspx/142/pancakes2020
