Get on your bike and pedal to make a smoothie and play your favourite music – it’s the Queensgate Shopping Centre ‘On the Move with Growing Greener’ event.
Taking place on Saturday March 12, On the Move with Growing Greener is a fun, free and fully interactive event that highlights the importance of the environment and ‘green’ matters.
All day throughout the centre, there will be free activities and workshops for the whole family to take part in. Shoppers can join in with Zumba and interactive games in East Square with Travel Choice or use pedal-power for tasty smoothie-making with Outspoken Cycles, using fresh ingredients from smoothie experts, Boost, in North Square.
Get the music started with a supercool pedal-powered jukebox – shoppers can pedal to play their favourite tunes for as long as their legs will last! Plus, Richardson’s Cycles will have a display of bikes to peruse with experts on hand to give useful tips and advice. Tiger will also be showing off its range of bicycle accessories to help personalise bikes with fun decorations as well as safety essentials, and Trespass will have the must-have bike gear on display.
Peterborough’s Sailability will be in Central Square with information about the good work it does to support young people with disabilities with the help of volunteers. Learn about the benefits of spending more time in the great outdoors and find out how to get involved.
Carol Wakelin, Queensgate’s Environmental Manager, says: “We work really hard at Queensgate to ensure our carbon footprint is as small as possible, and to encourage our visitors to do the same. This event celebrates being ‘green’ and shows the people of Peterborough that being green can be easy and fun.”
Queensgate is well recognised for its green efforts with a plethora of accolades for its achievements.
