We’re loving the new trend for pop-ups but here’s one that should make vegans and foodies very happy indeed.
Resist! Vegan Kitchen appears at The Ostrich Inn (17 North Street) on selected days, and is already proving a big hit with local residents.
Resist! started when Peterborough local Gareth Ellison’s came up with the idea when he discovered feeding hungry gig goers went down so well that he became inspired to take the idea to the next level.
Resist! has made its home at The Ostrich Inn – which supports local music and art as well as many of Resist!’s own events.
It’s run by Gareth with the help of another Peterborough local, Lynn . As well as their in-house set up, they provide the food for Battle Lines – a monthly live art head to head at the pub – and cater for weddings, events and a range of fundraisers.
It’s certainly not just for vegans though, their plant based dishes have been enjoyed by people with a varied range of diets and tastes, and their Doner Kebab has proved to be a massive hit along with their Slow Cooked Sticky BBQ Ribs (with Sugar Cane ‘Bone’) and Pulled Jackfruit, with the menu set to expand and adapt to customer feedback.
Resist! also actively promote Peterborough music events, with recent performers including Billy Pettinger aka Billy the Kid (Canada), Andrew Paley (Chicago) and Norwich’s Ducking Punches.
So if you fancy fresh, tasty and cruelty free food, Resist! should be next on your list of must tries in Peterborough.
The next Resist! pop-up event will be at the next Battle Lines art event on Friday March 30.
