Have a Tandoori Christmas!
ESP's food reveiwer Kelly Jackson was invited to an early sampling of Tap and Tandoor’s popular two-course Christmas menu, and certainly wasn’t disappointed.
The Tap and Tandoor is one of the best independent restaurants in Peterborough, in my opinion. What I love most about it is that you’re always guaranteed a warm welcome, great atmosphere and plenty of food.
The impressive starter selection feels like a whole meal in itself; we tucked into a mixed grill plate, comprising of chicken tikka, chicken wings, lamb chops, hariyali chicken tikka and seekh kebab. The meat was succulent and full of flavour. It was accompanied by a variety of dishes including masala chips, battered fish with Indian spices, the biggest onion bhajis I’ve ever seen, curry sauce and chili chicken. The lamb in particular was tender and had a slight spicy kick. A vegetarian platter is also available.

Next came the main course. You can choose from butter chicken, lamb curry, tarka daal or mixed vegetable, served with pilau rice and naan bread. A unique selling point is that the main course is all you can eat, so if you’re still hungry following the starter platter and your main, you can always ask for seconds!
Drinks and dessert aren’t included in the price, but groups can add a dessert for £5pp. Sadly, we were too full to try any of the Christmas desserts, although they sound delicious - cinnamon dusted chocolate fondant, vanilla cheesecake and chocolate brownie torte. Next time I’ll have to ensure I make space for it!

The Tap and Tandoor would make the perfect location for a group festive get-together, whether there’s four of you (the festive menu is for a minimum of four people) or a larger party. You can also take advantage of the two for one cocktails from 9pm every day. Two courses start from £32.50pp (£31.50pp for the vegetarian or vegan menu). It’s available throughout November and December and everyone included in the Christmas booking needs to dine from festive menu.
Something a bit different from a turkey dinner and trust me, you’ll be wanting to return to sample its non-Christmas offering too!
The Tap and Tandoor is open every day from midday to 11pm Monday to Thursday, until midnight on Friday and Saturday, and until 10pm on Sunday.
