The Key Theatre throws opens its doors to celebrate forty year milestone.
Since opening, the Key Theatre has been a hub for entertainment and culture in Peterborough. You can celebrate this milestone with them by visiting their open day on Sunday November 24.
Starting from 11am, this free event will host a number of workshops and offer a look into what goes on backstage during productions. A number of local theatre companies will be on hand to offer a range of taster sessions and extra activities to get stuck into!
Those involved are Eastern Angles, Small Nose Theatre Productions, Key Youth Theatre, Mask Theatre, Peterborough Operatic & Dramatic Society, Peterborough Gilbert & Sullivan and Peterborough Opera and Revellers. With so many companies present, there will be something suitable for everyone in the family!
Once you’ve tried your hand at something new and checked out the memorabilia, the bar will be taken over by a relaxed 70’s vibe for lunch, from 1pm – 3pm. They’ll be expecting plenty of faces old and new that have been involved with the theatre as well as visitors. You can indulge in the manager’s Costa-del-Sol inspired paella if you’re feeling peckish and a vegetarian option will also be available.
DJ Red Snapper will be taking on a 1970’s pick-of-the-pops music format, which is something you might remember from legendary radio DJ, Fluff Freeman. After that, we’ll be getting something a little more current from the award winning singing and dancing youth group, KY Glee.
From 3pm, there’ll be a special circus performance by K’Boum as well as a Circus Tea at Café Clarkes. To book the tea, you can contact the box office on 01733 207239.
