A new taste of the Orient has touched down in Peterborough – and ESP's food writer Kelly Jackson says you simply must get on board!
Indo-Chinese food chain, Oodles, unveiled its latest store in Bridge Street in August and ESP was delighted to receive a VIP invite to sample its menu.
If, like me, you haven’t heard of Oodles before, it’s basically a takeaway restaurant serving up delicious, freshly cooked ingredients right in front of you. It was fantastic to see the place buzzing when we arrived for our taster.
So, on to the concept of Oodles: once you’ve selected your box size, you can choose two noodles or rice dishes, one saucy dish and finally, one dry dish. After deliberating for ages over the menu, my large box was filled with vegetable noodles, egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and crispy chicken. I made the correct choice – the food tasted amazing with just the right amount of spice. You get a lot of food for your money (a large box is £9.49). You won’t leave feeling hungry, that’s for sure!
If you simply cannot decide between the dishes, Oodles has a variety of popular set menus available including a kids mix, veggie mix and plenty more options.
You can sit down inside and enjoy your food or get it to go. The setting felt like a typical restaurant than a takeaway diner. It has a modern appearance sporting black and white décor and artistic wall hangings, with a casual and relaxed atmosphere.
A super lunchtime offer is available until 3pm every day; you can pick up a small Oodles box for £6.99, a medium box for £7.99 or a large box with a free drink for £8.49. What a bargain!
I was incredibly impressed by my first Oodles experience. The food was top quality, service speedy, surroundings a step above the usual fast food takeaway dining, plus it’s great value for money.
