Summer’s definitely here (honest!) when the Shakespeare season kicks off at the fabulous Tolethorpe Hall…
We love a picnic and a show and this fantastic venue near Stamford has kicked off a new season of plays where the actors perform outdoors, while you’re snug and cosy undercover!
The Stamford Shakespeare Company will be performing two of the Baird’s best loved plays this summer and as an alternative, some cracking comedy with Dad’s Army (The Lost Episodes).
Comfortably seated and protected from occasional summer showers, beneath a permanent all-weather canopy Tolethorpe is the perfect setting to enjoy the works of the world’s greatest playwright. Enjoy all the comfort of an indoor theatre with the charm of an open air setting in what’s been described as one of Europe’s best open air theatres.
The Comedy of Errors is the first classic play now being performed by the group, and running for 30 performances across June and July. Widely regarded as Shakespeare’s funniest play, this is a hilarious tale of mistaken identities. A fast and frenetic romp set in the Ephesus Grand Hotel in the midst of the roaring twenties.
Then there’s also A Midsummer Night’s Dream, running for 14 performances across the remainder of June and returning for another 15 during August. The dazzling blend of wit, farce and fantasy that forms the outrageous comedy never fails to charm its audiences.
Then if Shakespeare’s not your fvaourite, it’s over to Walmington-on–Sea for performances of Dad’s Army (The Lost Episodes) performed during July and August.
Ticket prices range from £10- £18 and are available from the box office on 01780 756133.
