Prepare to enjoy an amazing summer of FREE entertainment as the new look Peterborough Arts Fest promises some fantastic performances in the city!
Expect street arts, circus acts, street performers, installations, extravagant visual displays and some strange goings on… yes it’s this year’s Peterborough Arts Fest coming to a part of the city near you from early August.
There have been several changes this year – including new dates – but a partnership with ZEPA 2, a project partnering seven major English and French festivals has brought more funding, more interesting acts and a range of activities that should blow you away this summer!
This year we’ll see a screening of Jaws at the Lido, the Britten Sinfonia perform in the city prior to their performance at the Proms, a giant lantern performance set to wow you in Cathedral Square plus plenty of the weird, wonderful and bizarre with a huge line-up of street acts and quality entertainment… a real opportunity to indulge in the doolally as they say!
There’ll be events kicking off at the start of August as part of the Festival on Tour programme with more locations involved this year such as Flag Fen, Queensgate, Thorpe Hall, the Cathedral, Central Park and the Embankment.
There’ll be the Festival Field Day with entertainment in Central Park and the big finale weekend on the Embankment on September 6, 7 and 8.

Arts Fest manager Lisa Hellin told ESP they hope to attract 60,000 people to this year’s event – “It’s running over a longer period of time so when you pick up a festival brochure you’ll see a whole range of events so it’s not just crammed into one weekend.”
Lisa confessed there’s one attraction in particular she’s really looking forward to – “The Wheel of Death is going to be a sight to be seen! I’ve seen it and it’s absolutely jaw dropping.”
Lisa adds that 50% match funding from the European Union will ensure it’s the biggest yet – “It makes sure we can maintain the quality of the Festival and for at least the next three years.”
