Get fit, get inspired with YMCA new-look community gym!
As part of its mission to inspire young lives, YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough has launched a new campaign designed to create a virtuous circle that encourages young people to keep themselves fit and healthy, and at the same time help others through tough times.
To create this win-win formula, YMCA has invested in a significant revamp of its gyms and fitness classes in Peterborough and Cambridge, while maintaining some of the lowest and most flexible prices for membership.
The key to the campaign is that any surplus from gym memberships is passed immediately back into the charity to support programmes such as community counselling, supported accommodation, schools programmes, holiday clubs and access to employment.
Julie Martin, Fitness and Training Manager commented: “YMCA exists to inspire young lives, and this campaign does just that. We want to inspire people to take care of themselves and at the same time take care of others.
“We know people of all ages are put off gym membership by high prices and fixed contracts and we know too that many young people really want to look after themselves and to make a difference to their community. Along with our new facilities, we’re offering low prices, flexible membership and a commitment to invest the money we raise through gym membership on work that supports young people through tough times.”
Brenda already uses the gym and says: “It saved my life. I’ve lost five stone in weight, and the gym is so friendly and helpful I didn’t feel intimidated at all.”
Another user, Helen, added: “I don’t see it as exercise – it’s fun and the atmosphere is great, I love it!”
With monthly fees from just £11.99 per month, YMCA’s competitive offer also includes access to exercise classes and four free personal training sessions with every monthly membership purchase.
The charity runs the gym at The Cresset in Bretton and the new facilities boast over 70 gym and studio stations.
