NEW GOURMET BUS IS WORTH A TRIP

There’s no greater feeling than getting a text off your editor, asking “Did you want to try out a new burger place?” Of course, I did.

Not just any burger place… a converted double-decker bus restaurant.

The new eatery is located outside the Serpentine Green Shopping Centre at Hampton. It’s not hard to miss. It’s a converted double-decker bus, remember.

At the grand opening, I spoke to the company director, Rameez Mahmood. He told me, “This is the first of its kind in the UK. You always hear about new things starting in places like London and Birmingham. I’m proud to have brought something new to Peterborough.”

Discussing the food, Rameez added, “We get everything fresh and local on the day. The meat, the buns, the salad… everything. A popular burger seems to be the Mexicano, which has tortilla chips, salsa, jalapenos and melted cheese.”

I wanted to try out the classic, plain burger – so I could get a real taste of the meat without it being overpowered by toppings.

Dining with Mayor John Fox and players of the Peterborough Phantoms, we all agreed these were the juiciest, tastiest burgers we’d eaten in a long time.

I washed my food down with a thick and creamy Ferrero Rocher milkshake – which was just as delicious.

What had concerned me prior to visiting the new venue was how comfy the seating area would be. Thankfully, it was the comfiest bus I’d ever sat on.

In fact, with its padded leather seating, along with the colourful LED lighting, I’d swear I was sat in an authentic 50’s diner, and not a vehicle that once upon a time I’d have dreaded getting on.

It’s an experience you should try for yourself. You won’t regret it.
