LEVITY LAUNCHES THE LAUGHS

Thousands of comedy fans are set to head for the city as Peterborough hosts a huge three day comedy festival in July.

Headlined by stars like Al Murray, Lee Nelson and Richard Herring with others to be announced, the Levity Comedy Festival will be held on the Embankment from July 19 – 21.

Brought to you by the team behind The Willow Festival (which is held the week before) it will include several other well known comedy names such as Chris Ramsey, Phil Cool, Ed Petrie, Stephen K Amos, Ed Gamble and around 30 hot up and coming acts.

It’ll be held over seven stages on the Embankment with the main stage housed under one of the world’s largest temporary structures providing welcome cover come rain or shine, and ensuring the show will definitely go on whatever the British summertime throws at us!

There’ll be well over 100 acts appearing over the three days and the event’s licensed for 20,000 so it’s hoped it’ll attract a huge crowd from far afield as well as the city itself.

Promoter Mark Ringer told ESP – ” The Levity Festival is going to be something amazing for this city and will attract national interest. It’s a huge undertaking and we’re still in talks with even more acts so it’s growing by the day.”

There’ll be a fantastic VIP experience available run by top event organisers Syrup Events, plus a comedy competition with £1000 to win, some free Fosters and a chance to appear on the main stage with a top act.

Weekend tickets for general admission will be £50 giving you the chance to see a huge variety of stand up acts, circus acts, music and kids entertainers over the three days. Tickets will be available through national ticket sources such as Ticketmaster.

We love live comedy and ESP’s comedy reporter Steve Gonzalez will be keeping you up to date and bringing you more details as they’re released so make sure you keep an eye on this site, our facebook and twitter and next month’s issue.
