LEVITY FESTIVAL SHINES IN THE CITY

Shine, the Peterborough based charity supporting everyone affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, have been chosen as the Levity Festival’s official charity.

Debuting in Peterborough this year, Levity Festival is the only three day outdoor festival dedicated to comedy. The event will see more than a hundred acts take to seven stages, and will feature Omid Djalili, Lee Nelson and Al Murray as headline acts.

Mark Ringer, Director of the Levity Festival, comments – “It’s not an easy task to raise money even for the greatest of causes during this period of economic hardship and Levity Festival would like to acknowledge the hard work that charities do to help those in these difficult times.

“As part of this acknowledgement, Levity Festival is delighted to offer support to Shine in 2013, and we hope the charity’s inclusion at the festival will not only lead to the raising of a healthy sum of money for this important cause, but put a few smiles on the faces of those who do such good work… welcome aboard!”

Shine will be using this opportunity to further promote their new initiative ‘Shine in the City’ which aims to raise awareness of the charity in Peterborough, the location of the organisation’s Head Office, whilst also offering local businesses the opportunity to promote their services and products.

Tom Scott, Marketing Manager for Shine expressed his gratitude to the Levity Festival by saying – “What’s the best cheese to hide a horse in?… mascarpone! Just kidding, we’ll leave the jokes to the professionals. Working in partnership with the Levity Festival will be a valuable opportunity for Shine to raise significant awareness for people affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus in our local area. We are hoping to raise lots of money, which will allow us to make an extremely positive impact on the lives of people living with these life-long conditions.”

Shine will have a strong presence at the festival, providing activities for children and selling merchandise, so go along and say hello.

If you’d like to volunteer at the festival, contact Louise on 01733 421353 or louise.tyler@shinecharity.org.uk.
