Footy fans urged to leave the car at home – and catch England and Scotland at the World Cup by bus!

Peterborough’s biggest bus operator is urging local people to leave the car at home and get home safely after watching England and Scotland compete in football’s World Cup, which starts today.
The tournament begins this Thursday when co-hosts Mexico take on South Africa. England will play their first Pool Match against Croatia on Wednesday June 17, then Ghana on Tuesday June 23 and Panama on Saturday June 27. Meanwhile, Scotland begin against Haiti on Sunday June 14, then play Morocco on Friday June 19 and Brazil on Wednesday June 24. After that, the knock-out stages will begin.
Venues around the area, such as pubs, restaurants and even cinemas are offering football fans the chance to get out and support your national team, and to have a drink during the game.
Darren Roe, Managing Director of Stagecoach East, (pictured) said: “We know that this is an exciting time for a lot of football fans, many of whom will want a beer or a wine while they support their teams. There is no need to take a risk by driving – our local bus services and professional Drivers will get you home, hopefully after watching a great win!

A fully loaded double-decker bus can take 75 cars off the road.”
Meanwhile, Stagecoach has recently announced upgrades to its app, allowing customers to make a savvy choice to save money by buying bundles of DayRider tickets. Under the upgraded scheme, discounts of 10%, 20% and 30% are now available, with tickets valid for up to 12 months.
