The search is starting in Peterborough for its next Panto Pooch – The Wizard of OZ wouldn’t be complete without Dorothy’s dog, Toto!
The New Theatre Peterborough will set the stage on Saturday October 12 for open auditions to find their Toto. All Peterborian pooch owners are invited to help complete the cast of The Wizard of Oz this Christmas, by bringing their dog to Dorothy!
All those hours spent training them to ‘sit’ & ‘roll over’” will pay off as they leap to the stage, joining forces with the rest of the beloved panto cast, led by Strictly Come Dancing Champion, Katya Jones as Glinda The Good Witch.
The Wizard of Oz pantomime production needs a dog that’s small, friendly, can obey commands and, most importantly, feel comfortable with all the attention of being in the limelight. If you want to see your dog get all the star attention you know it deserves, then they’d love to see what they can do!
The auditions for ‘Search for Toto’ will take place at The New Theatre Peterborough on October 12 from 10am – 6pm, where dogs will be asked to perform simple tricks such as ‘sit’ ‘stay’ and other tests of control. All of which will be necessary in ensuring they can work well with the creative team and, more importantly, capture all those cute qualities that made Toto so iconic.
At the end of the competition 2 dogs shall be selected, with the winners being announced the following week!
The winners will alternate throughout the pantomime’s run, lasting over 2 and a half weeks from Saturday December 14 until Tuesday December 31.
The panto production of The Wizard of Oz is being brought to Peterborough by specialist pantomime production company Prime Pantomimes, writing, directing and producing panto across the country!
