Independent retailers at The Cresset in Bretton are preparing to reopen on Monday June 15.
As the Government has now eased some restrictions a range of the small retailers within the centre will be opening up again, including Cresset Shoe Repairs & Dry Cleaners, OMG Accessories, R&R Tanning and Ventana Blinds, with social distancing measures in place.
However, Eastern Ink Tattoo Studio, Bretton Library, Sprogs and the YMCA Community Gym will remain closed.
You can pop to the shops in The Cresset between 9am and 7pm Monday to Friday, and between 9am and 6pm on Saturdays.
It marks an important step forward for The Cresset, which as a subsidiary of YMCA Trinity Group, helps to raise valuable funding for the charity that goes towards supporting more than 3,000 young and vulnerable people across the region.
Throughout the lockdown YMCA Trinity Group has continued to support more than 900 people through services such as accommodation, childcare and mental health counselling.
Penny Hansen, Head of Commercial Activities at The Cresset, said: “It has been a very challenging time for everyone, and we are immensely grateful to the key workers within our teams that have kept crucial services running over the past weeks.
“We are pleased to be in a position where we can now reopen for the community and support our independent businesses that have been unable to open during the lockdown.
“The safety of our retailers, customers and staff is paramount and we are following all Government health and safety guidelines. Social distancing measures with clear signage and floor stickers are in place to remind people to keep a two-metre distance that we kindly ask all our visitors to adhere to.”
The Cresset’s theatre, The Fayre Spot Pub and the conference and banqueting facilities within The Cresset building are still closed to customers until the Government confirms its plans for reopening these venues.
Many of The Cresset theatre’s planned shows including for comedians Russell Howard and Jimmy Carr have been rescheduled with all new dates and booking information available on the venue website. Tickets are also on sale online for the 2020 pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk.
