Dining out seems to be more popular than ever, which is great for Peterborough – as our city has a rapidly growing number of places to eat.

Joining the likes of Nando’s and the Argo Lounge is a popular gourmet burger chain called Handmade Burger Co, which officially opens April 10.

I was lucky enough to visit the new restaurant in the former Old Still unit in Westgate Arcade to try out the menu. I must say – and I don’t have to say this – that the food was delicious.

The menu offers more than 40 different burgers, including the New York Deli (Beef, Pastrami, Handmade Mustard & Gherkin Relish and Mayo), and the Italian (Italian Sausage, Mozzarella, Red Pesto and Mayo). You can even order a Peanut Butter & Bacon burger. Don’t worry, for those feeling less adventurous there is, of course, a plain burger and your classic cheese burger to choose from as well.

The menu also offers chicken, lamb, skewers, and sides such as sweet potato fries and onion rings. There is something for everyone – even those who have gone gluten free!

During my visit, I spoke to David Ball, the Assistant Manager. He told me, “There are many things that make us stand out from other restaurants. One of those things is the fact that there are no microwaves in the building. Everything is freshly made by hand every day. We also use traditionally reared 100% prime scotch beef, our chicken is Red Tractor assured, and everything is local.”

David also spoke to me about their big plans for the patio area, which will be home to a BBQ and live music in the summer. We can’t wait!

We’ll definitely be heading back very soon.
