ESP readers, it’s time to get very excited about a new and unique event that is happening in Cathedral Square this September!
For those that have yet to see the August issue, don’t worry, I’m happy to tell you again about what local arts organisation Metal have in store for us this September.
Metal, a Peterborough based art organisation, have collaborated with international artists Studio Orta, to give us a two-day festival in the shape of a fantastic foodie and music event. It’s time to get ready for Peterborough’s very own Harvest Festival, the first of it’s kind to happen in the UK.
On September 19 and September 20, Peterborough city centre will come alive with great music, art, food stalls and a sit down meal on the Sunday enjoyed by 500 people!
The meal will be made up using locally sourced ingredients from community spaces such as The Green Backyard and you can have a chance to be part of this epic meal by entering a lottery. Simply visit www.metalculture.com/harvest-lottery and put in your details and if you’re lucky enough to win two tickets, you can look forward to a unique experience of dining with a difference! The lottery closes August 16.
On both days, there will be food stalls and a craft market and if you’re not lucky enough to win tickets for the big sit down meal on the Sunday, you can still take part by having a taster of the harvest menu at the surrounding stalls.
Music fans can enjoy a wealth of talent on the stage during Saturday night from the likes of singer and accordionist Garance from France, alongside her will be Peterborough’s own singer and songwriter Kerry Devine. Peterborough favourites Opaque (pictured left) will be followed by performances from BBC Radio 6 favourite Adam Beattie, and singer Nick Hart who’ll be joined by musicians Oss and Zoot for a celidh. The four-piece hard folk act Concrete Mountain (Camp Bestival) will hit us with some blue-grass fiddle tunes and to end the night with a musical bang you can look forward to some sensational sounds by international music collective The Turbans (Secret Garden Party) performing energetic dance music with an ancient rhythm.
It really is an exciting time for Peterborough and we hope you can show your support for Metal and Studio Orta and enjoy two days of music, food and fun in Cathedral Square.
