Season3 of Jumped Up Theatre’s project Platform8 has just got underway in style and there’s plenty more to see…
Season3 of Jumped Up Theatre’s project Platform8 has five exciting events, full of music, laughter, tears and tall-tales, popping up across the city this week.
The programme started with The Dreamcatcher, a digital arts project by film maker Judi Alston and artist Andy Campbell from local One-To-One Development Trust which can now be seen at the Undercroft at Serpentine Green Shopping Centre.
“From setting up their own businesses to creating amazing community projects, we are finding that Peterborough is a city of dreamers who are making great things happen” explains Judi. “I am really struck by the people and organisations who are dreaming big things and making them happen here.”
The Dream Catcher is a digital installation of film, text, sound and Virtual Reality, which has captured and celebrates the dreams that people of Peterborough are making come true. Local people have been adding their own dreams and aspirations.
“I have admired Judi and Andy’s work for years,” explains Jumped Up Theatre producer, Kate Hall, “So it’s great to be finally working with them, they are awardwinning digital artists with international reputations but will this will be the first time they will be working with audiences in their hometown.”
The Dream Catcher is now installed in The Undercroft Theatre in Serpentine Green in Hampton through until Saturday November 11 so go take a look.
Also in The Undercroft will be the Edinburgh Festival smash-hit Castle Builder (above), by Vic Llewellyn and Kid Carpet on Friday November 10 and Saturday November 11, packed with stories and songs about people who don’t wait for permission to do crazy things, like building castles in Colorado or the postman who wanted a palace on his veg patch.
Kid Carpet is also creating one of his anarchic family shows, Super Mega Rockin’ Rock Show (above), in The Undercroft, for one performance only on Saturday November 11 you can show your little ones how to rock-out in a fun afternoon event described as ‘The Mighty Boosh for kids’.
In Almost Always Muddy (above0 at The Pyramid Centre in Bretton from Friday November 10 to Sunday November 12, Likely Story Theatre and Kirsty Harris will open up a junkyard of treasure for children to build a daring world of adventure and play, on which a play about courage and risk is created with the young audience.
And don’t miss Ross & Rachel by James Fritz at The Key Theatre on Thursday November 9 and Friday November 10 – another award-winning show which has grabbed audiences and acclaim in London and New York.
