The world-renowned Pearl Izumi Tour Series races back to Peterborough tonight (Tuesday June 9).
Straight after the weekend’s amazing Tour of Cambridgeshire event which saw thousands of cyclists take part in the Gran Fondo, there’s more top cycling action in the city tonight when teams will compete at high speed racing through the city centre.
Peterborough will host round nine of this exciting event, with riders racing along Bourges Boulevard, Bridge Street, Church Street and Cowgate in front of a big crowd of spectators.
Once again some of Britain’s leading male and female cyclists will be competing along with talented local riders too.
Annette Joyce, service director city services and communications said: “There is always a carnival atmosphere in Peterborough whenever the Pearl Izumi Tour Series rolls into town, so I am very pleased we are once again hosting this fantastic event.
“We are rightly proud of our city centre, having recently refurbished much of the route the Tour will follow, so I know the event will be a great showcase for the city.
“ITV4 is again filming the event, so if you like what you see when you watch the race, come and visit us to see what Peterborough has to offer.”
The women’s race gets underway at 5.30pm with the men’s race at 7.30pm. Highlights of both events will be shown on ITV4 on Wednesday June 10 at 8pm.
