DEEPING RAFT RACE RULES AGAIN!

The Deepings Raft Race was a huge success on its return at the weekend.

The crowds were clearly keen to welcome back this popular local charity event on Sunday August 7, with hundreds lining the river bank enjoying the fun and the sun.

Andy Pelling from the Raft Race team told us – “It was fantastic day after a 2 year gap - a great turnout, big crowds and about 30 rafts.”

It’s one of our favourite events in the summer and our ESP photographers Mike Harris and Alina Pashko were there to capture the action.

They reported that it was a brilliant atmosphere and Deeping was buzzing from the start with stalls, music and family entertainment.

The event saw dozens of rafts make their way down the river with some creative crafts and costumes as race goers adopted this year’s theme of ‘Back to the 80s’.

The day was supporting several local charities including St Barnabas Hospice, Don't Lose Hope, Wake House and the The Ukranian Refugee Appeal but the organisers are still totting up the final amount raised.

It was great to see so many people enjoying the day and we'll be looking forward to the next one - let's hope the weather is just as a kind!
