COOKING UP SUCCESS @ PARCS RESTAURANT

Parcs Restaurant at Peterborough Regional College have gained not one, but two more awards to add to their collection this year.

Last month the College’s training restaurant was assessed by the AA and after a superb evaluation, were given the highest College AA award, the Highly Commended Rosette.

In partnership with People 1st, as a result of this success they’ve also just received a Gold accreditation which is only awarded to colleges that take an above average and proactive approach to the professional development of staff and have effective and collaborative working partnerships with industry.

If that wasn’t enough already, the Gold level accreditation allowed them to apply for the Centre of Excellence status which they successfully achieved.

Academic Director at the College, Sarah Thorpe said – “Well done to all in the Hospitality and Catering department. Maintaining the Gold award is a great achievement but gaining the Centre of Excellence status for Food & Beverage Service is absolutely outstanding! You are an exceptional academy and I personally thank you all for your continued support and commitment to the College and our students.”

Over the past three years the Academy has formed links with some fantastic chefs including Fred Muddiman at the Peterborough Holiday Inn, Philip Corrick, Executive Chef of Clubhouses at The Royal Automobile Club, and Will Holland at Coast in Saundersfoot, South Wales.

All three were interviewed during the accreditation process and were all extremely supportive and complimentary in their testimonies. Will Holland said – “I have worked in collaboration with the College since I opened Coast Restaurant in 2014, including work experience/work placements for students, seasonal work for students during the restaurant’s busy period/summer seasons and full time continuous employment for a graduated PRC student. The quality of the students PRC have sent us have been of a very high standard and all have had the necessary skills to perform in a professional kitchen.”
