CITY IS READY TO LIGHT UP WITH ESP DANCE CREW!

The ESP Dance Crew will be opening the show in the big build up to the city’s Christmas Lights Switch On this Saturday, November 15.

Peterborough is about to get festive as this year’s fabulous array of lights are set to be switched on in Cathedral Square at this free family event organised by the City Council and hosted by BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

Our ESP dancers will be taking to the stage at 2pm to kickstart an afternoon packed with live music and entertainment with BBC Radio Cambridgeshire presenters Paul Stainton and Nick Carter keeping you entertained with a fantastic stage show through until 7pm!

There’ll be music from local bands including the ever-popular One Eyed Cats and local young rock band White Clouds and Gunfire (pictured below right) will close the show. Peterborough Youth Choir will be singing carols and Christmas tunes such as Walking in the Air and there’ll be more great dance performances from Jem’s Hip Hop.

Pudsey Bear and the Key Theatre panto cast from Jack & the Beanstalk will be dropping by and there’ll be plenty of on-stage fun and games before the lights are switched on at teatime so get there early!

Managing editor David Harvey told ESP – “BBC Radio Cambridgeshire is proud to be part of the party – the Peterborough Christmas Light Switch on is a momentous occasion for the city and it’s such an important part of the social calendar. It kick starts the Christmas period and will hopefully attract a huge crowd to the city centre.”

Special guests will join The Mayor and Father Christmas on stage to press the magic button and light up this year’s light display followed by a burst of fireworks – so watch this space for more nearer the time.

There’ll be fair rides for the kids on Bridge Street from November 18 – December 19 and a hot chestnut seller to get you in the festive mood.

Tune into BBC Radio Cambridgeshire on 95.7fm for the very latest updates on the lights switch on event and keep an eye on our social media @espmagazine on Twitter and facebook for more.
