Peterborough’s Nene Valley Railway is on track for a great Christmas with a special shopping night and the start of the Santa Specials.
The NVR Christmas shopping event is on Thursday November 24 from 5pm until 9pm and might just have something for that hard to please person in your life.
As well as the railway’s extensive selection of Thomas the Tank Engine goodies, the Wansford based charity will be offering railway related curiosities and more.

It’s not just all railway related stuff though, the event will have a selection of stalls offering items diverse as antiques and pet beds!
Entry’s free (donations most welcome) and a complementary glass of wine or hot chocolate will be served to all who drop by. A light supper will be available in the turntable cafe which will be open throughout.
Ho! Ho! Ho! It’s also soon time for one of the most popular events at Nene Valley Railway as Santa hops aboard their steam train.

The Santa Specials always pull the crowds so book early for the special events which run from Saturday November 26 – Saturday December 24.
There’s an exciting visit to Santa’s log cabin where each child receives a special present from the old gentleman himself and extra entertainment at busy weekends.
Then it’s time to join the steam hauled, decorated train for a 50 minute ride to Peterborough and return. During the journey the train staff will serve the kids with a drink and chocolates. Parents and other adults are not forgotten with a mince pie and either an alcoholic miniature, wine or a hot drink.
Santa will wander through the train to meet the children and have a photograph.
