CHRISTMAS COMES TO THE CITY CENTRE

The big Christmas lights switch on happens on Saturday November 16 in Cathedral Square marking the official start of the festive season here in Peterborough.

Thousands are expected to pack the square for the annual event which will see ‘Jacob’ from Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat which comes to the Broadway in December among those helping switch on the lights.

There’ll be entertainment throughout the afternoon starting with various school choirs performing from Noon.

The ESP Dance Crew will then start to get the party started with some fabulous street dance and fun routines at 2pm before a great line-up of local bands rock the square inclduing the Rock Choir, Lexie Green, a Ska band and The Nuggets.

The Broadway Theatre performers will then take to the stage from 5pm in the build up to the big lights switch on at 6pm.

At around 5.30pm the Joseph choir featuring around 40 children will perform a mega mix of all of the most loved songs from Joseph. Then ‘Jacob’ from the show will appear in full costume for the ‘Christmas Camel Giveaway’, entertaining the crowd and giving away 12 of their brilliant singing camels as prizes!

The Joseph choir will return to do their medley of Christmas carols at around 5.45pm and then Jacob will be joined by ‘Tiny Tim’ from the Broadway’s production of Scrooge to do the honours turning on the fabulous Christmas lights followed by a  burst of fireworks… we can’t wait!

ESP will be there to capture all the action for our special feature in the forthcoming Christmas, and 15th birthday, issue of ESP Magazine which will be out from November 27. Plus there’ll be more right here so keep an eye on the site or why not sign up to our twitter and facebook and you’ll get the news first.
